THE FIVE-STAGE JOURNEY: PRECISION IN EVERY STEP
Design & Engineering: The Blueprint of Power and Safety
Every transformer starts with detailed design and engineering. Our engineers work closely with clients to understand project requirements and grid standards.
Each design follows international standards such as IEC 60076 and IEEE C57, and also meets FM Approval Standard 3990 for Liquid-Immersed Transformers. These ensure that the transformer tank and its protection systems meet strict fire safety and property protection requirements (FM Approvals, 2022).
Core, HV & LV Winding (Simultaneous): Building the Heart
This stage forms the heart of the transformer. We build the core and windings for both the High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) sides at the same time to ensure balance and efficiency.
We use high-quality electrical steel cores and automated winding systems to reduce losses and maintain uniform tension. The precision of this process directly affects energy efficiency and performance (Corefficient SRL, 2025). Automated coil winding also improves accuracy and reduces material waste (ResearchGate, 2025).
Assembly & Oil Filling: Bringing It All Together
After the core and windings are complete, all components are assembled into the transformer tank. The next step is oil filling under vacuum conditions to remove air and moisture that could shorten the unit’s lifespan.
We use non-flammable or low-flammable insulating oils that comply with FM 3990 and IEC 60296 standards (Snowy Hydro, 2023). These oils not only cool the transformer but also improve insulation performance (GZ Industrial Supplies, 2023). Using vacuum conditions ensures the oil fully penetrates the windings and insulation (Exnovo, 2023).
Testing & Quality Assurance: Guaranteeing Performance
Before leaving the factory, every transformer goes through complete testing to ensure it meets strict performance and safety standards.
Each unit is tested according to IEEE C57.12.91 and IEC 60076 requirements. The standard Routine Tests include:
- Winding resistance measurement
- Turns ratio and polarity tests
- Impedance voltage
- No-load and load loss measurement
These tests confirm mechanical integrity, electrical safety, and performance reliability. Exnovo’s QA team performs internal checks and coordinates with third-party reviews to ensure consistent quality.
Packing & Dispatch: Ready for the Field
Once testing is complete, every transformer is safely packed in crates or containers designed to prevent vibration and weather damage during shipment.
Our logistics team ensures on-time delivery and proper handling from the factory to the client’s site. Upon arrival, clients are advised to perform oil quality and winding resistance checks to confirm no damage occurred during transport (Electrical Engineering Portal, 2025).
